Welcome to Vandalia, Illinois!
Today, the city with a current population of 6585 is a blend of beautifully restored historical sites and stately homes of the past. Vandalia is also enhanced with antique and specialty shops, beautiful churches, modern hospital and schools, and the community facilities of present day. Vandalia, Illinois is also very proud of its picturesque community parks, a lovely 660 acre recreational lake and warm, friendly people. Development of Vandalia’s west interchange has been a success for future growth of our city. Many new businesses and industries have already set up shop at the west interchange and many more are projected to come. Our downtown revitalization project is under planning with new sidewalks, landscaping, and the repaving of Gallatin Street which will draw even more specialty shops and restuarants.
